The problem

Direct electric hot water is the most expensive way to heat a tank.

An immersion element turns one unit of electricity into one unit of heat, at full price, every day of the year. A heat pump moves heat that already exists in the air instead of making it from scratch, so the same tank of hot water costs a fraction to produce.

01 · Capture

Air in

A quiet fan draws ambient air across the evaporator. Even cool air holds usable heat, the unit works down to -7°C, and to -25°C with electric boost.

02 · Concentrate

Heat moved, not made

A small compressor concentrates that captured warmth using R290 refrigerant, delivering roughly three units of heat for every one unit of electricity used.

03 · Store

Hot water, ready

The heat transfers into an enamelled steel tank, holding water at up to 70°C. WiFi control and smart scheduling keep it topped up when energy is cheapest.

Why R290

The refrigerant the premium brands have moved to.

R290 is a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of 3. Most of the installed base still runs on synthetic refrigerants with a GWP measured in the thousands, and regulation is moving against them. Choosing R290 now means the unit on your wall is ahead of the rules, not racing them.

On installed packages

Heat pump water heaters supplied and installed together qualify for zero-rate VAT in the UK until 31 March 2027, under the energy-saving materials relief. That is a genuine 20% saving against buying the unit alone.
